Testosterone is a hormone produced from men’s testicles, just as estrogen is being produced from a woman’ovary. There is usually a decrease in the level of both hormones in in woman and me during old age thus menopause and andropause respectively.
Forty percent of men over age 45 have levels (<300 ng/dL). Andropause in men can give a lot of inconveniences just like it is in menopause and this ranges from hot flushes, depression, frustration, irritability ,low bone density and muscle mass, mood swings to being grumpy and also low sex libido and performance. However in most cases older men can be irritable as a result of other age related ill health reason beyond low T.
Anyway the good news is that this low testosterone level can be treated with a hormone replacement therapy.Your doctor knows better
